How Binance fees work

Binance is first and foremost a spot exchange, so most of what you pay is a flat maker/taker fee - 0.10% each side for a regular account, among the lowest of the major exchanges. Two things move that number: your VIP tier (set by 30-day volume and BNB held) and whether you pay fees with BNB, which takes 25% off. Buying with a card is the convenient but pricier route at around 2%.

Spot: maker & taker fees

Every spot trade is a maker (your limit order rests on the book and adds liquidity) or a taker (your order fills immediately and removes it). Regular accounts pay 0.10% either way. Higher VIP tiers - reached with more 30-day volume and a larger BNB balance - step both down.

VIP 9$4B · 5,500 BNB0.011%0.023%

Almost every retail trader sits at Regular (VIP 0) - and 0.10% is already cheap. The VIP ladder is built for high-volume desks who also park a meaningful BNB balance.

The 25% BNB discount

Hold BNB, switch on "pay fees with BNB", and Binance takes 25% off your spot maker/taker fee - so a regular 0.10% taker drops to 0.075%. The trade-off: the fee is deducted from your BNB balance, and BNB's own price moves. For anyone trading regularly it's usually worth it - tick the box above to see the difference.

Buying with a card

The quickest way to buy on Binance - a debit or credit card - is also the dearest. Expect around a 2% card fee plus a spread baked into the quoted price. Funding by bank transfer and trading on the spot market instead is dramatically cheaper for the same crypto.

How to pay less on Binance

  • Trade on the spot market, not the card buy - 0.10% vs ~2%.
  • Place limit (maker) orders: you skip the spread and, at most tiers, pay the lower maker fee.
  • Turn on pay fees with BNB for an instant 25% off.
  • Fund with a bank transfer, not a card.
  • Compare against local options on our Australian exchanges page.
